About Bishops Camp

All proceeds from the Annual Bishop’s Camp Charity Golf Classic are used to support the Bishop’s Camp summer literacy program at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, Founded 19 years ago Bishops Camp provides seven weeks of a free, safe, structured environment for 150 of Dallas’ inner-city children, from ages six to fourteen.

Camp activities include reading, math, science, art, music, and sports, field trips, etc.

Kids at Bishop’s Camp love to read with their reading partners. These volunteers spend time reading with each child, individually, one on one, every day. This helps them maintain important reading skills over the summer break and keeps them on track for school in the fall.

Because Bishops Camp is supported completely by funds raised from the annual golf tournament there are limited slots available for our young campers. Every year we have children on a waiting list who want to participate, but don’t get the opportunity unless a child leaves the program or fails to show up daily and opens up a slot for a child on the wait list.
Your sponsorship and support of the Bishops Camp Golf tournament will allow us to provide for more children to particiapate and enjoy Bishops Camp. If you’d like to see last year’s tournament funds in action, just hit “reply” and we can arrange for a tour of Bishop’s Camp, which will runs here at St. Matthew’s Cathedral. It’s all about providing a great summer The Rev.
